Project generation

WEBfactory Studio

With WEBfactory Studio you create, edit and administrate the project database on the basis of the Miscrosoft SQL server 2014. The communication with the subordinated SPS controls is configured with the Studio and the process variables are arranged either through import or via manual input dialogues.

Beside the installation of report and alarm systems, the WEBfactory Studio also parameterizes internationalization, user management, script libraries and add-ons.

WEBfactory SmartEditor

The WEBfactory SmartEditor is the ideal tool to create process visualizations with Drag and Drop. Without any particualr programming knowledge and by using an intuitive user interface you will need only a short training period!

With the symbol libraries, included in the delivery, you can create advanced and 100% web based process visualizations.

Microsoft Expression Blend

Microsoft Expression Blend is an advanced graphic editor for professional configurations of complex WEBfactory applications while using a diverse scope for design and sophisticated animations.

The system libraries, included in the delivery, can either be applied directly to the projects or can be graphically and individually adjusted. Various functions and animations are bundled into reusable user controls.

You can import graphics from other graphic systems and formats as objects and you can reuse them equivalently.

Microsoft Visual Studio

Using the Microsoft Visual Studio development environment you can create the most complex WEBfactory applications using the WEBfactory symbol libraries.

The symbol libraries, included in the delivery, can be adjusted and extended.
Using the Software Development Kit you can also create new libraries.

WEBfactory web services enables you to extend customer applications like ERP systems, batch programs and also calculations of material flow with all process data, alarms and historical data available within WEBfactory.

Meanwhile the WEBfactory symbol library consists of more than 300 different Silverlight controls and furthermore it contains premium controls for professional process visualization design as well as controls for alarm management, processing and evaluation of historical data, illustration in more than 40 languages and user administration.

WEBfactory standard symbols

Standard symbols are controls which are necessary for almost all visualization projects. They can be devided into the following categories:

  • static symbols for the design of backgrounds with color gradients, various containers for process engineering, layouts for building management systems and more than 100 symbols for general use    input and output elements for the in- and output of (alpha)numeric figures including plausibility checks (using touchscreens - there can be displayed a country-specific virtual keyboard)
  • text display with freely selectable fonts and freely selectable styles as well as value dependent (SPS variable) dynamic switching of fore- and background color
  • ISA symbols - in order to display as RI schemes
  • switches and buttons for the on and off-switching of aggregators and for setting values; each switch can also be parameterized as a button
  • numeric and seven-segment-displays for outputs of values with physiological units and a freely selectable display format; the fore- and background color can be switched depending on SPS variables
  • gauges for graphic displaying of values on a display scale; scaling and colors are freely selectable
  • typical HVAC controls that are mainly used for building automation

WEBfactory trend curve display

WEBfactory Trend Curve Display is a very efficient control with which you can display online process data in combination with hstorical data in form of a trend curve as well as digital tracks. The various setting possibilities give the user the right degree of freedom in order to display the process data in an individually suitable form. Once made, you can save any setting worldwide and user specific and recall it later on.

WEBfactory alarm display

You can display, comment and confirm historical and online alarms with the alarm display. An intuitive surface ensures a fast capture and evaluation of the current situation as well as the respective user reaction.

  • you can accumulate alarms into collective alarms and confirm them with or without a comment

WEBfactory datagrid display

Using the datagrid display (DataTable Control) you can display, export and print process figures, which were saved as historical figures in the Log-Database, in a table. Respective layouts, selected time frames and displayable process data are saved centrally in a configuration. DataTable Control is suitable for all applications where process data e.g. for documentation purpose, for performance data accounting or for the proof of legal marginal values has to be displayed in a table, printed or exported into other formats like Excel, Word, CSV or PDF. You can design the printout layout individually: margin, heading and footer, page numbers and page breaks can be adjusted.

With the WEBfactory User Management you can release or block user activities like index value changes or alarm confirmation and change or save configuration settings. The user administration contains features which are required for FDA certification by 21 CFR Part 11.

WEBfactory language switch

WEBfactory process visualizations can be switched into more than 40 languages during runtime. You can add new languages and extend standard texts with project specific texts using WEBfactory Studio. The standard language with which the project visualization will start and further eligible languages can be set for each project.
All texts can be exported in CSV or XML format and re-imported after editing or translation.

WEBfactory operating logbook

WEBfactory operating logbook displays historical alarms, recorded user activities and reports in a clear and consecutive list with diverse filter possibilities.

WEBfactory LogBook Control provides a communication platform within WEBfactory visualizations with which users can exchange information among themselves in real-time. All reports will be saved for further evaluation in the data base.

Connection to control systems

Efficient drivers as well as an integrated OPC interface are available for the connection to control systems of nearly all manufacturers.


OPC Interface

There are suitable OPC servers for almost all control systems which are currently on the market. The integrated WEBfactory i4SCADA OPC client interface allows you to connect directly with these control systems.
WEBfactory always supports the newest OPC standards.

Comfortable features within the WEBfactory i4SCADA Studio have superseded manual configurations and therefore you can automatically read OPC servers installed locally as well as on distant computers and transfer the parameterization into WEBfactory i4SCADA with a few clicks.


Coupling of Simatic and SINUMERIK controls happens with the WEBfactory Simatic connector, an integrated connector within WEBfactory i4SCADA. Parameter settingscan be imported from the TIA-Portal.

Beckhoff TwinCAT ADS

The connection of Beckhoff TwinCAT controls takes place with the very efficient WEBfactory ADS connector. Through the direct insertion of comment lines into the Beckhoff-SPS-programme you can fully automatize the configuration within WEBfactory.

Using the WEBfactory SNMP connector you can implement all devices such as switches, printers etc. which support the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) into the WEBfactory monitoring.

There is hardly anything worse than a standstill of your production process due to a failed system component. Such a standstill can cause damages amounting to millions within particular branches. At any malfunction it will immediately switch onto a parallel server in order to ensure high application availability.

Using WEBfactory you can automatize switching procedures for particular days, weeks, months or years. Therefore, the switching programs can be edited and monitored location-independently via a standardized web-user interface. This helps to relieve personnel of routine tasks.
